Season 2 is coming soon!
During this break I’ve been spending more and more time on the healthcare of my friends and family lately. I continue to act as a doctor friend to whomever needs it, helping guide people through the healthcare landscape to get done what they need, whether it’s finding a doctor, figuring out how to actually have a phone conversation with your doctor, getting an urgent appointment, or getting a second opinion on a diagnosis. Hopefully by telling some of these stories this season, you too will get something helpful out of them. Or, you’ll just enjoy hearing them.

This season, I’m changing format of the podcast a bit. I’ll be doing more frequent, shorter episodes without guests, and then sprinkling in longer episodes and miniseries with guests like the upcoming one on racial disparities in healthcare.

This is Dr. Patient, a podcast that examines all the aspects of the patient provider relationship. I'm your host, Heather Johnston, MD, a real life doctor and patient. This is Dr. Patient Season 2. And I'm Heather Johnston. This podcast examines all things related to the patient provider relationship. Last season, I interviewed guests about topics such as what a day in the life of both a doctor and a patient is like, how seeing a doctor used to be 50 plus years ago, I talked to people who experienced medical errors, people who found humanity in the hospital and more. I've been on both sides of the bed myself as a doctor and a patient. I've survived non-Hodgkins lymphoma, heart failure and breast cancer. And I was a practicing pediatrician for 10 years in the middle of all those, so I spend a lot of time thinking about the doctor patient relationship from both sides. During this break between seasons, I've thankfully been healthy overall, despite the ever present process of aging creeping up on me. But I've been spending more and more time on the health care of my friends and family lately. I continue to act as a doctor friend, as I call it to whomever needs it, helping guide people through the healthcare landscape to get done what they need. Whether it's finding a doctor, figuring out how to actually have a phone conversation with your doctor, getting an urgent care appointment or getting a second opinion on a diagnosis. Hopefully, by telling some of these stories this season, you too will get something helpful out of them, or you'll just enjoy hearing them. This season, I'm changing the format of the podcast a bit. I'll be doing more frequent, shorter episodes without guests, and then sprinkling in longer episodes and some mini series with guests like the upcoming one on racial disparities in health care.
