Well, as the saying goes, it's been a minute since I've sat in this chair with my headphones on to talk to all of you. And you know what? I am sorry that it's taken me so long to come back to you. I'm apparently excellent at letting life get in the way of the things that I mean to do. Go figure. For those of you joining me for the first time, this is Doctor Patient, a podcast about healthcare in the U.S. that largely focuses on the day-to-day experiences of both doctors and patients, but wanders pretty frequently into patient advocacy territory.

0:44 For you newbies, I recommend that you start by listening to season one, episodes one and two, a day in the life of a patient and a day in the life of a doctor. To me, these are essential episodes because they lay bare the often shocking details of what it's really like to be living in those shoes. And I'm especially hoping that patients will listen to the doctor episode and doctors will listen to the patient episode. Understanding each other is step one in working together to figure out how to make this wack-a-doodle healthcare system that we have in the U.S. work for all of us. This season I'll be sharing some stories of what I've been up to in my own healthcare since last season. But I'll also be talking a lot about patient advocacy topics like healthcare paperwork, laws in the U.S.
